Discovering the Beauty of Your Walls with Paints

Colour is one very fundamental and important element in every home. It can make a room look wider or smaller, it can create different illusions, and it can instantly liven up any boring and constricted space. But have you ever wondered how those intricate finishes in hotels and other luxury establishments were done? Well, those structures may be the work of experts, but you can certainly have the same elegant design in your own dwelling. Follow these steps to achieve your desired look.

  • Preparation
First, you have to clear the space. Remove all hangings like picture frames, paintings and other decorations including shelves. You also have to move furniture away and cover them with drop cloth to prevent stains. Then you have to apply painter's tape on your mouldings, crowns, and window frames to protect them from drips. After this, you need to make sure that the area is smooth and has no holes. Examine it carefully and use a sandpaper to smoothen out uneven surfaces. If you find any holes, fill them up with spackle using a putty knife.

  • Implementation
Next, you have to prepare your paint. Pick two shades of the same colour that will complement each other when mixed depending on your preference. If you are having a difficult time deciding, you can get inspiration from photos in magazines and on the Web. Pour each palette on one side of your split tray and dip your roller on each of it. You can then start applying it using different strokes like swirls and curves. You can also make arches and turns for more effect. After your first attempt, try to assess the results by looking at it from a distance. Then you can add more depending on the design that you are trying to attain.

Once all the work is done, you can now sit back, relax and enjoy the awe-inspiring feeling of your very own masterpiece just like what you will feel when you watch the tricks of Phuket Magic.
